Literatura Nacional: Enderson Rafael

Upcoming: Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus

Shadow Hills
By
Anastasia Hopcus

Publisher: Egmont USA
Release Date: July 13, 2010
Pages: 400

Synopsis
After her sister Athena's tragic death, it's obvious that grief-stricken Persephone "Phe" Archer no longer belongs in Los Angeles. Hoping to make sense of her sister's sudden demise and the cryptic dreams following it, Phe abandons her bubbly LA life to attend an uptight East Coast preparatory school in Shadow Hills, MA -- a school which her sister mysteriously mentioned in her last diary entry before she died.

Once there, Phe quickly realizes that something is deeply amiss in her new town. Not only does Shadow Hills' history boast an unexplained epidemic that decimated hundreds of its citizens in the 1700s, but its modern townies also seem eerily psychic, with the bizarre ability to bend metal. Even Zach -- the gorgeous stranger Phe meets and immediately begins to lust after -- seems as if he is hiding something serious. Phe is determined to get to the bottom of it. The longer she stays there, the more she suspects that her sister's untimely death and her own destiny are intricately linked to those who reside in Shadow Hills.

About the author: Anastasia Hopcus wrote her first book in the 2nd grade. It was titled Frederick the Friendly French Ferret and was seven pages long. During high school she wrote numerous short stories and started (but never finished) three screenplays, all as an alternative to doing actual schoolwork. At the very wise age of twelve her career ambition was to drive a Mack truck, but when that didn't pan out, she tried acting, bartending, and being a receptionist in a dojo before finally returning to writing. Anastasia loves horror movies, Joss Whedon, obsessing over music, and British accents. She lives in Austin, Texas, and Shadow Hills is her debut novel.

Upcoming: Delirium by Lauren Oliver

I hope you all have already read my review of the full-of-awesomeness Lauren Oliver's debut novel Before I Fall. But, if you haven't, I'm sure you have at least heard of this. And, well, there's another book by the amazing Lauren Oliver coming on February 2st, 2011 already -- DELIRIUM (HarperTeen) and I'm more than happy to introduce you this.

They say that the cure for love will make me happy and safe forever. And I’ve always believed them.

Until now.

Now everything has changed. Now, I’d rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years suffocated by a lie.

Lauren Oliver’s powerful second novel is a stunning tale of star-crossed romance, set in a world where love is forbidden.

Synopsis (from the ARC): Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that one love -the deliria- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.
I also hope most of you get the opportunity of reading this book, which I'm very excited to. By the way, you can win an ARC from Rebecca from Vicarious Reader if you go there on her blog and get your entries. The giveaway is open internationally and will end on June 25th. If you say I referred you, you get +3 entries as well. So, go!

BUT, if you can't wait, read an EXCERPT here.

Have questions to ask Lauren? I'm going to interview her, so send me and she will probably answer them.

Note: the cover of the ARC of DELIRIUM image is from Traveling ARC Tours.

Upcoming: Radiance by Alyson Nöel

The author Alyson Noel just posted on her Twitter about The Immortals spin-off series. The first book's called Radiance and it's about Riley and Buttercup.

Release Date: August 31, 2010
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Immortals comes a new middle-grade series featuring Ever’s younger sister, Riley.

Welcome to the Here and Now.

Riley Bloom left her sister, Ever, in the world of the living and crossed the bridge into the afterlife—a place called Here, where time is always Now. Riley and her dog, Buttercup, have been reunited with her parents and are just settling into a nice, relaxing death when she’s summoned before The Council. They let her in on a secret—the afterlife isn’t just an eternity of leisure; Riley has to work. She’s been assigned a job, Soul Catcher, and a teacher, Bodhi, a curious boy she can’t quite figure out.

Riley, Bodhi, and Buttercup return to earth for her first assignment, a Radiant Boy who’s been haunting a castle in England for centuries. Many Soul Catchers have tried to get him to cross the bridge and failed. But he’s never met Riley...
Another Alyson Noel's book to put on my 2010 wishlist. This one has a sensible, beautiful cover. Loved it. What do you think about that?

Upcoming: Dark Flame (The Immortals #4) by Alyson Nöel

Alyson Nöel launched today in her Facebook page the cover and the synopsis of Dark Flame, the forth book of The Immortals series, which comes out in July 6th, 2010.

In this eagerly awaited continuation of the bestselling Immortals series, Ever struggles to help her best friend Haven transition into life as an immortal—trying to keep her from doing anything that puts them at risk, while attempting to gain control over her enemy Roman, so she can finally obtain the antidote that will allow her and Damen to be together.

But when the spell she casts backfires, resulting in a strange, foreign pulse that binds her to Roman instead, Ever turns to Jude and dark magick, desperately attempting to break free of the curse, and ultimately risking everything she knows and loves—including her beloved Damen.
Although I have nearly hated Shadowland, I'm getting excited for Dark Flame. I think that maybe Alyson can turns my hate into love. I hope she brings Jude closer to Ever... Or gives him more... Notability?

What I though about the cover? Loved. I think that, different from the story, all the covers are stunningly beautiful. All of them! Synopsis? Liked. This one sounds great, like Shadowland's, which doesn't mean it's going to be amazing, you know? I only have hopings.
