Top Ten Picks: Favorite Authors

Top Ten Picks is a meme hosted by Jillian from Random Ramblings and this week she's making us choose ten authors/writers we consider as our favorite ones. As I do not have favorite authors in general, I have chosen ten authors that represent what I have been reading lately and that I would read anything they write.

1. Tess Gerritsen

How could I make a list like this and not mention Tess? I have been kind of obssessed with her books since last year when I discovered them. She's the author of the Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles series and many others medical thrillers that you won't stop reading once you've started.

2. Richelle Mead

The author of the most amazing vampire series also could not be out of this list. She has created a super different new world of vampires while still loyal to the real mythology behind it. But, besides Vampire Academy, there are two more other series I'm still so looking forward to read.

3. Rick Riordan

Everything began when I read The Lightning Thief in the Percy Jackson series and, although I haven't finished all the series yet, I completely fell in love with the way the tells us Percy's adventures and the way he made me love the Greek mythology. I cannot wait to read The Red Pyramid and The Lost Hero as well!

4. Phoebe Kitanidis

I know Phoebe is a new author, I know she has only lauched only one book so far. But this doesn't mean she can't be as awesome as all those others famous authors, okay? Whisper, her debut novel, affected me intensely and it so became one of my favorites stories ever. I would definitely read anything she writes!

5. Lauren Oliver

I say the same here from above here. Although Lauren's a debut author, she can't be out of the list. Not at all. Like I said on my review of Before I Fall, if you read, you'll see it doesn't seem she's a new author. Her writing is beautifully, intensely descriptive and can make you tear through this easily. Also, I cannot wait to read her upcoming book Delirium.

6. Cassandra Clare

Never read The Mortal Instruments series? So I guess you don't live in Earth. By creating an unbelievably extraordinary world of angels, wolves, vampires, warlocks and a lot of mystery, Cassandra Clare makes us get hooked on her incredible books. And now I can't stop reading them.

7. Stephenie Meyer

Although I love Twilight still thinking it's not all that awesomeness I thought when I first read it, I must admit those 4 books are the reason why I got into this world of reading. And, of course, it's Stephenie Meyer's fault, too. Except her new book, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, I have all of her other five books on my bookshelf and would read it all again and again.

8. Ann Brashares

Another author that is also responsible for my love for reading and that I could not leave out of this list. Her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series books clearly represent my childhood reading-moment, when I really did not like to read any book -- except these. So, thank you, Ann, for filling up my childhood of [reading] love.

9. Markus Zusak

I can't talk about my favorite book-related things and not mention The Book Thief, the one of the rare books that ever left me crying. I've also read I'm The Messenger and I can tell how sensible Markus Zusak shows to be while writing. He always brings to his readers such beautiful messages.

10. Dan Brown

My father is the guilty one for making me get addicted to Dan Brown's mystery stories. He read them all and I tried to follow him, though I couldn't get to read The DaVinci Code neither Digital Fortress. I read the others and they are all really super-amazing and so well-written. When does another book come, by the way, Dan?

  1. I love these authors too! Great picks! Though I haven't read books by Tess Gerritsen, Markus Zusak and Dan Brown. I know what you mean about Lauren Oliver. It took me forever after reading Before I Fall to really get that it was her first book!

Adoro! :D

Ufa!, acho que é isso! :D

  6. Lauren Oliver's debut novel was great, wasn't it? I wish more first-time authors produced such awesome work!

  7. Before I Fall truly deserves the 5-star ratings it's bee getting. It's sooo good. Of course, I have to agree with Gerritsen, Zusak, and Riordan :) Glad to have you with us this week, Raila! I don't think you've ever joined before? Welcome aboard :D
